Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup almond flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 egg (divided)
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a small bowl, mix almond flour, sugar, softened butter, half the egg, almond extract, and salt to make the frangipane filling.
3. Cut puff pastry into 16 squares.
4. Add a small spoonful of filling to the center of each square and fold edges slightly inward.
5. Brush tops with the remaining beaten egg.
6. Sprinkle sliced almonds over each piece.
7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and puffed.
8. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Add a touch of orange zest for a citrus twist.
Swap puff pastry for croissant dough for an even richer flavor.
These taste best warm and reheat beautifully in the air fryer.
