Ingredients
4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping:
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, combine apples, cranberries, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla. Toss to coat.
3. Pour fruit mixture into prepared baking dish.
4. In a separate bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
5. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
6. Sprinkle oat topping evenly over the fruit.
7. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until topping is golden and fruit is bubbly.
8. Cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm with ice cream.
Notes
You can use frozen cranberries without thawing.
Try a mix of tart and sweet apples for deeper flavor.
Make it gluten-free with almond flour or GF oat flour.
