Ingredients
2 cans whole water chestnuts, drained (about 30 pieces)
15 slices of bacon, cut in half
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
Toothpicks, for securing
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
2. Wrap each water chestnut with a half slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
3. Place wrapped chestnuts seam-side down on the rack.
4. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until bacon starts to crisp.
5. Meanwhile, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, and ketchup in a small bowl.
6. Brush the glaze over each piece and return to the oven for another 10–12 minutes until caramelized.
7. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
Use thick-cut bacon for meatier bites, or regular for faster crisping.
You can prep them ahead and bake just before serving.
For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce to the glaze.
