Ingredients
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar (white or brown)
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas with melted butter.
3. Add sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla; stir to combine.
4. Sprinkle baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix gently.
5. Stir in the flour until just combined—do not overmix.
6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
7. Pour batter into the loaf pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
Notes
Use extra ripe bananas for the best flavor.
Swap white sugar for brown sugar for a deeper caramel taste.
Banana bread freezes well for up to 3 months—wrap tightly.
