Ingredients
4–5 cups angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes (store-bought or homemade)
Vegetable oil, for frying
**Cinnamon Sugar Coating:**
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
**Optional Dips:**
Melted chocolate
Caramel sauce
Whipped cream
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for coating. Set aside.
2. Heat 2–3 inches of oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
3. Fry a few cubes of angel food cake at a time, turning with tongs until golden brown—about 30 seconds per side.
4. Remove and immediately toss in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
5. Repeat with remaining cubes, working in batches to avoid overcrowding.
6. Serve warm with optional dipping sauces.
Notes
These are best served fresh, while hot and crispy.
Be sure oil is hot enough before frying to prevent soggy bites.
Try adding a pinch of cayenne or nutmeg to the sugar for a flavor twist.
