Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tsp vinegar)
1 large egg
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional toppings: cinnamon sugar, glaze, or melted chocolate
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until just combined—do not overmix.
5. Spoon or pipe batter into prepared donut pan, filling each about 2/3 full.
6. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and donuts spring back when touched.
7. Let cool in pan 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
8. Dip cooled donuts in cinnamon sugar, glaze, or your favorite toppings.
Notes
Use a piping bag or zip-top bag to fill the donut pan neatly.
Add lemon zest, cocoa powder, or nutmeg for fun flavor twists.
Donuts taste best fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for 2–3 days.
