Ingredients
3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/3 cup milk (or more as needed)
1/4 cup sour cream (optional for creaminess)
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish
Instructions
1. Place cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
2. Reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes or until potatoes are fork-tender.
3. Drain well and return sweet potatoes to the pot.
4. Add butter, milk, sour cream (if using), salt, pepper, and cinnamon.
5. Mash using a potato masher or hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Add more milk for desired consistency.
6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
7. Serve warm, garnished with herbs if desired.
Notes
• For extra flavor, use cream instead of milk and brown butter instead of regular.
• Make it sweet by adding a drizzle of maple syrup or brown sugar.
• These reheat beautifully—just add a splash of milk before warming up.
