Ingredients
For the meatballs:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
For the mashed potatoes:
2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup milk
4 tbsp butter
Salt and pepper to taste
For the gravy:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
2. Boil potatoes until fork tender, then mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
3. In a bowl, mix beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
4. Bake meatballs on a lined tray for 15–18 minutes until browned.
5. While meatballs bake, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, and cook 1 minute. Gradually add broth, stirring until thickened. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
6. Spread mashed potatoes in baking dish. Top with baked meatballs and pour gravy over.
7. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Swap beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
Top with shredded cheese before baking for an extra layer of flavor.
Can be assembled ahead and baked when ready to serve.
