4 cups bread cubes (day-old bread)

2 cups milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

3 eggs

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Pecan Topping:

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup melted butter

1 tablespoon maple syrup

Optional:

Caramel sauce for drizzling

Whipped cream for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.

2. Place bread cubes in the dish.

3. In a bowl, whisk milk, cream, eggs, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.

4. Pour mixture over bread and let soak for 10 minutes.

5. In another bowl, mix pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, and maple syrup.

6. Sprinkle pecan mixture evenly over the top.

7. Bake for 40–45 minutes until set and golden.

8. Let cool slightly before serving.

9. Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Use stale bread for best texture.

Do not overbake to keep it moist.
