Ingredients
450 g Polish kielbasa sausage, sliced
700 g sauerkraut, drained and lightly rinsed
4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 small onion, sliced
1 tbsp butter or oil
1/2 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup chicken broth or water
Instructions
1. Heat butter or oil in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add sliced kielbasa and brown lightly on both sides.
3. Add onion and cook until softened.
4. Stir in sauerkraut, potatoes, caraway seeds, and black pepper.
5. Pour in broth or water and stir gently.
6. Cover and simmer on low heat for 30–35 minutes until potatoes are tender.
7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
8. Serve hot.
Notes
• Serve with rye bread or mustard.
• Add bacon or smoked pork for deeper flavor.
• Leftovers taste even better the next day.
