Ingredients
8 chicken drumsticks
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp honey
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh grated ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger)
1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening glaze)
Sesame seeds & chopped green onion for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, vinegar, sesame oil, and black pepper.
3. Place chicken drumsticks in a large bowl or zip-top bag. Pour marinade over and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to overnight).
4. Arrange drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway, until skin is caramelized and chicken is fully cooked.
5. (Optional) While chicken bakes, pour leftover marinade into a saucepan. Bring to a simmer. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 2–3 minutes until thickened.
6. Brush thickened glaze over baked drumsticks before serving. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.
Notes
• You can also grill the drumsticks for a smoky finish.
• Serve with rice, noodles, or a fresh Asian-style slaw.
• Drumsticks can be marinated and frozen for future use.
